You guys are complaining about someone who is better at SEO than you? Do you think this business is only for broke bums who can't afford to play the game? Smart people understand it takes money to make money, and you have to figure out how the game is played and make an investment.

The whole "paid links" thing is really a shady definition. Is it a paid link if I join Yahoo Directory for $299? What about a local business that joins the BBB and gets links from them? I think if a business is willing to buy links then they probably have something worthwhile to offer people otherwise it would be a waste of money.

Lol are you serious? Do you know what the dofollow and nofollow tags mean? They are instructions for Google Spiders to not crawl that link.

Technically speaking, and by Google's own admission, the "nofollow" attribute doesn't instruct the search-engine spiders not to follow those links - it instructs Google not to pass PageRank through those links; or, as Google's Matt Cutts says, "it drops those links from Google's link-graph" (or words to that effect).

Some people are of the belief that "nofollow" links do actually still confer some direct SEO benefit, however, in terms of those backlinks still having SEO value (although I haven't seen anyone disputing Google's claims of no PageRank being passed through them) and/or making your site's backlinking profile appear more natural.

Either way, Matt Cutts is right when he says dofollow links are still useful. A link - whether "active" or not, from an SEO standpoint - can still send you referral traffic. And the more people who visit your site, through any means, the greater its chances of acquiring more natural backlinks.

I personally, these days, pay little attention to whether a backlinking opportunity is "nofollow" or otherwise. Searching for backlink opportunities is usually the most time-consuming part - not the actual placement of one's links (in whatever form/context they may be placed) - so it'd be silly to pass up a decent opportunity to increase one's exposure just for the sake of saving a few moments, wouldn't it?
