Hey everybody, I'm just curious if anyone's ever tested the impact of pinging their site? How long does the effect last? A day, several days, a week or more? Is an immediate increase in traffic the only effect of pinging, or are there other SEO related benefits. Just curious.... Talltom |

Pinging your website only helps it get crawled more. As for the immediate increase of traffic? Do you mean denial of service attacks? That's when your website is flooded with numerous ips. UDP = Packets that are useless. ( They have no return ) | |

LOL Jake, I'm not exactly clear on what I'm asking. But here's what happened during the last two days. I submitted one of my bigger blogs to a bunch of feeds yesterday. The impact on my traffic was substantial and immediate. The odd thing is, today, almost exactly 24 hours later, the traffic stopped, like it was a PPC campaign and I had pulled the plug. |

Ping does not boost ranking to your sites. If many people ping to your site, it's called ddos, and when your site have low memory, it will be down.
