37 Easy Link Building Tips (For Beginners)

1. Create a list article. By this I mean creating a “top 10″, “100 best ways”, or any variation of these. People love to look at lists and they are very popular on the internet.

2. Create a list of helpful resources and tools that others can benefit from.

3. Create a “what not to do” article and explain the “do nots” about a certain topic. These are usually catchy and people love to avoid mistakes.

4. Make your content valuable, unique, and easy to understand. Try to keep the reader interested so that they will want to share your link.

5. Use spell and grammar checks for your articles. Bad spelling can give a bad impression and scare readers away.

6. Submit your articles to directory sites such as EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticleBase. For a list of the top 50 article directories, Click Here.

7. Use websites like Squidoo, Tumblr, and Hubpages to post your content. Include links to your website.

8. Guest blog on other websites that are related to your niche. Create a great article and have another blogger post it on their website. Include your link.

9. Comment on other blogs/websites that are related to your niche. Include your link in the comment or attached to your profile name.

10. Use popular forums to discuss topics with others and include your website links in your signature.

11. Create an e-mail list. Offer something free or helpful and have readers subscribe by e-mail. You will have the ability to send ALL of these subscribers useful information and links back to your website.

12. Share an article you have written on Facebook. If you have a lot of friends or fans, then you will receive more attention and “likes”.

13. Tweet your latest article or talk about your website and why people should visit it. Include a link in the tweet or on your profile page.

14. Make a great YouTube video(s) and include your link in the video description. You can also include your website on your profile page.

15. Use social bookmarking tools to share your latest article, news, or video. Websites like Digg, StumbleUpon, and Reddit are great places to start.

16. If you are looking for a mass marketing tool for social bookmarking, you can try Social Poster. It allows you to easily submit links to TONS of social bookmarking sites.

17. Create a press release. This usually works best for businesses or news providers because a press release is basically an announcement of news to the public. You can include your link in the press release and receive targeted traffic.

18. E-mail friends or other website owners and see if they would like to do a link exchange with you. If they agree, you will have your link on their website and all you need to do is return the favor. Try to find higher PR (page rank) websites.

19. Start a contest on your website and share it wherever you can. If it becomes popular, everyone will share your link and you will have a ton of new backlinks.

20. Talk about something “risky” that will create a huge debate and get people talking. This is done by creating articles that show your personal opinions and are open for discussion. Try to talk about a recent trend or popular news topic.

22. Submit your website to DMOZ and other free directories.

23. Depending on your niche or business, Craigslist can offer some link building assistance. You can advertise your business, service, or product, and place a link in the ad description.

24. Use Yahoo Answers to help others out and ask your own questions. Make sure that you include a good quality and descriptive answer, then place your link in the resource box. It is very easy to get banned from Yahoo Answers, so you must be careful so that your answers are not flagged as “spam”.

25. Try using Google Groups to discuss topics with others who have the same interests. You can include links and generate targeted traffic.

26. Review a new product or a product that has never been reviewed before and talk about it on your website.

27. Review products on Amazon and include your link as a reference.

28. Create a cool product list on Amazon and include your link.

29. Start new blogs or websites and write about interesting topics. Try to drive traffic to those sites and include your other links within the page layout.

30. Use Technorati to tag your posts and favorites. Adding your site to Technorati will generate links and provide some traffic to your website.

31. If you own a blog, then submit it to blog directories and other sharing sites specifically for blogs. I have used Blogger Choice Awards in the past and have found it helpful. People can go to the website and vote for the best blogs. If you receive enough votes then you will be featured on the first page of your category.

32. Make sure you have a clean looking layout so that it is visually appealing to readers. They are more likely to share your website/link if the layout is catchy.

33. Hire a professional. They are everywhere and you can find them for a great price online. Let them know you are looking for someone to help with your SEO and to build a large amount of high quality links. You can post your “Wanted” ad at forums such as DigitalPoint and Warrior Forum.

34. Buy or rent high quality links. There are many services online that offer backlinks for a set fee.

35. Give away a useful book or service for FREE. If you can create a cool ebook and offer to give it away for free, then you will be able to have your website and links shared easily. If you receive positive reviews, those people will talk about it and your ebook will become more popular. Include your website and a list of helpful links in the ebook.

36. Release a WordPress plugin and include your website link in the description.

37. Go viral. Create a funny, weird, or just plain awesome video or picture and share it throughout all of the social media websites. Make sure you include a link to your website.

I am referring to your content throughout your blog or website. So when I say articles, I usually mean "posts" on your website/blog. Although some of these tips can be used for actual articles you have posted at Ezinearticles and other article directory websites. Hope this helps.

By the way, your signature link is not working. You can easily fix it in the edit signature section.

DMOZ.org is a website directory (like your phone directory) where websites are placed into categories and can be searched. It is usually the main directory website that is used for SEO, at least for me. You should still submit to others as well, but DMOZ is a must.
