Default Hostgator -Should i Go for It or Not?

well,

i have been searching for a batter host for some of my new sites . Hostgator seems to be the best choice so far but while browsing about hostgator , i found that they do allow adult content on their shared servers . well, its suddenly making a bad impact in mind , could it affects a site rankings if a adult site and a other normal niche sites are hosted on same ip?

please Worriors help me to make a right decision

thanks

I know that Hostgator has a very cheap business plan with a private IP- something like $15-$20 a month, have you looked at that?

not really ,i am actully looking for a 5 ip plan from Seohosting managed by Hostgator . but as they all are shared ips so i was making sure that an adult content website on my ips can cause a ranking drop or something .

Google does not penalise adult content. Why would it?

Sharing an IP with a spammer is worse than sharing an IP with an adult site. As far as I know Google doesn't punish adult sites...

I love hostgator. If you're concerned, maybe spend a little more and go with something dedicated.

Their support is excellent. One night when I first got started, I broke 7 of my sites. I sent a support ticket before going to bed, feeling sick about it. When I woke up it was all fixed.

Let me chime in on their support, great response times and friendly people. Almost as friendly as GoDaddy.

I LOVE Hostgator! Their hosting is superb and their Customer Service just puts the icing on the cake. I've made lots of changes, hosted many domains/subdomains - some Wordpress, some not. $14.99/mo for the business hosting. Unlimited everything!

Can't beat it. I would use no one else besides Hostgator. Godaddy for domains and Hostgator for hosting.

CHEERS!

as we don't want to backlink to an adult content site so we also don't want to run our website with bad neighbourhood . may be its totally a myth because i am totally new with this condition so not sure , so far i am running my sites with a clean ips but not having a good uptime with the particular host .

thats why i am here ?

I use them and can't complain. Think I pay about $9 for unlimited sites. Can't complain about that. Also their support is top notch. Once one of my sites wasn't showing (turned out because I had only just bought the domain name 5 min before) and their online live chat staff were great!

Hostgator definitely, for those of you who still wonder if Hostgator is the choice, check out Hostgator Ultimate | For Everything Hostgator they do give a small rundown on both the pros and cons of Hostgator.

Personally I have been using them for the past 5 years with no issues, they do excel with their customer service and pricing.

Well if you are really concern about the ranking of your website, then i will be suggesting you go for HostGator business plan for it also gives you the possibility to use a dedicated IP.

Ranking of a website based on the host is quite irrelevant, basing on the hosting specifications is a different story.

A server is a server.

Ranking a website based on host actually does matter. If your website downtime is high, you will rank lower.

I highly recommend Host Gator. I started out with Dot Easy, went to Go Daddy and now I'm at Host Gator. Not only do they have live chat on their website, which helped me through all my questions, but they're more affordable than the other two and I get much more for my money, like unlimited domains on my hosting service. I now tell everyone to go to Host Gator. Reliable, inexpensive and the customer service is just downright awesome!

That being said, the other poster is right. You shouldn't get hit just for adult content. Search engines need to deliver that stuff to targeted individuals, too.

Hope that helps!

I'm not a huge fan of Hostgator. They used to be good but have been going down the tubes lately.

recently I changed my hosting from godaddy to hostgator. And what I have to say is that is big , enormous differences between this two hosting. In godaddy didnt have any solutions for my problems for 2 months, after I write to them couple times, but hostgator resolve this for 3 minutes. Also they have live chat, if you have problems...Thats my experience with hostgator

Customer support is/has always been great.

Quality of the hosting does seem to have
declined over the past 2 years.

I checked this thread just to see if anyone
else has seen that and it appears so.

What does backlinking have to do with choosing hosting? You are over analyzing the issue. I doubt you'll find GOOD hosting that only allows sites on topics you approve of.

I've used HG for years with no problems at all. The "neighborhood" of hosting is the world. What's important is customer service and minimal downtime for your sites.

If you are concerned about being on the same IP as an Adult Site, purchase the business plan which does come with a dedicated IP and your worries will go away. I have used Hostgator for the last three+ years with excellent performance and service!

I switched from GoDaddy (couldn't get scripts to run correctly) to HostGator 6 years ago and have never looked back.

Their prices are great and customer service is #1.

Whenever I've had a problem (most of them were my fault) they took care of them very quickly.

A client of mine was having problems with GoDaddy running the same script that I was running on HostGator. I talked him into switching to HG, they even migrated his site to their servers, and the script started running the way it was supposed to.

I think the search engines have advanced to the point that they will not penalise a site for content hosted on other sites even though they are the same IP, when they can easily find out that they are just using the same host

This company sets the standard for Customer Service.
Period. Period. Period.

After every interaction they ask to rate them. They send
instant e-mails of live chat. I run 5 sites on Hostgator
and never have a problem

When I have a question they are there 24/7. I once spent
2 hours driving their customer service nuts answering my
questions when I got started and they never wavered.

I wish my IM life was as complicated-less as Hostgator!

Hostgator is the huckleberry.

While I too am a big Hostgator fan, if you are really paranoid about sharing an IP with a porn site, then go with a hosting company that does not allow adult hosting at all.

Justhost.com does not allow adult content on their shared plans.
