It is very very difficult to get in. I do not know how, you should probably know some editor or something.

The very simple thing to get listed in DMOZ is to follow their rules in submitting a site.

If you followed the rules, then why did you submit twice? Resubmitting just overwrites the previous submission with the new date.

Hi Red,

DMOZ will not accept sites that:
- contain lots of affiliate links
- contain lots of duplicate content

If Google is about relevant content, DMOZ is about content value.

So, add value to your site by placing more useful posts, how-tos and guides.

Steps to evaluate your site:
1. Check out DMOZ directory.
2. Choose a category closest to your niche.
3. View the sites closest to your niche.
4. Mimic the quality of content presented by the approved sites.

Most likely your site will get approved, after that changes. Takes some weeks to get listed.

I would say "some weeks" is optimistic.

I have heard it can take 8 months to a year to get accepted by DMOZ. I applied around the first of the year, and I have not seen my site on there or heard back from them. I'm not holding my breath for that one.

Hi,

Pretty much that way. The entries are done by 50k ( active or non-active ) volunteer editors.

They are assigned categories by DMOZ and not at categories they applied for. Many got rejected ( including me... lol ) to prevent probable conflict of interest. Some categories are real busy but with low number of editors. So, massive backlogs are the norm.

The one thing we ought to be aware of is some times editors make mistakes. If we ask them to correct the mistakes, it will take time or ignored. Editors also dropped out.

So, choose the best category for the site as well as write accurate title and descriptions. Be sure of the category or it will end up not qualified and you might never know about it.

Most importantly when a domain name is in, search engines won't stop spidering and indexing. Your PR in Google is bumped up. Traffic to sites multiplies. Get paid handsomely by happy customers.

Key factor when dealing with DMOZ ->>>>>>> patience.

I'm no longer active. Not sure whats happening.

Following rules or not. DMOZ is very difficult to get into. I have tried 3 times previously. The first one i submitted i had to wait for 6 months. I tried the second and third time but no result.

I got one of my sites listed on DMOZ. It is a site without any affiliate links, with a lot of original content, it goes with a book I wrote. When it got accepted it had already a pagerank 2 (I donīt know if that made a difference), it wasnīt by any means a new site. It took about four months before it was approved - you might just have to be patient..

For my money sites I didnīt even try because I felt their standart is not sufficient for DMOZ.

Good luck to you!

getting listed in almost impossible..first you need a aged domain and etc etc....i tried to hire a editor but they ask 600 to get guaranteed accepted..So in my opinion its good to stay out of this..or if you are planing for a big site then you can try...
