I just went overnight from #10 to #76! Ha - it's funny, because in a few different SEO guides they all say the same thing: "You'll get freaked out, but just keep building backlinks as normal. You'll come back stronger than ever!" Just to keep me from going crazy with fear, can others comment on their Google Dance experiences? Anyone ever NOT come back? Ha - thanks. I'm being a baby. |

A few months back I posted about my own first encounter with the google dance. I've had a lot of different experiences with the google dance since, and don't worry about it any longer. One site that I was very aggressive in building links to initially disappeared for months. Then I built some more links to it and it's popped up to high rankings and back to oblivion 2-3 times since. Currently it's nowhere. Others have less dramatic swings. So, the advice you've been given is correct - don't worry and keep building backlinks. |

I have many times experienced google dance when my site was new. But after we keep on building backlinks and contents we get even better results. |

Yes, this has happened to me lots of times, however over the last month or so Google have changed things again 'Google Farmer' algorithms or something like that. Check your content, you might also find a lot of your links have gone or lost value, especially if they come from article directories even EZA

Oh this is a normal situation and there are no doubt that your site will come back strongly if you really build those quality backlinks normally.

I have a site that I launched almost 1 year ago and it's been up and down in the SERPs the entire year. Right now it's not ranking well, but was a month or two ago. Yes, it is frustrating. It has 300 published posts, all of which range from 500 to 1,500 words in length. I've been steadily backlinking for the entire year. It's in a fairly competitive niche and the top ranking sites in the niche have domains that are 3 to 9 years old. I'm still a newbie, but am striving to break into the market which is a huge and growing market. My site is still indexed in Google so I'm not too worried. When it ranks well, it earns very well, so you can imagine my frustration. I know I'm far too dependent on free search engine traffic and so I am making some moves to reduce that dependence. |

I've had a few sites over the years that "haven't come back" but almost every time that happens, the sites remain strong (or get stronger) at Yahoo and Bing...which is really weird. I've had sites with one page of crap content shoot immediately into the top ten under the target keyword (and stay there) with little to no backlinking...I've had 100-300 page sites with heavy GOOD content and TONS of relevant backlinks flallop around in the rankings forever...its just one of those things! |
