What's your view about cctld?

There are varieties of ccTLDs on the Internet today.
Recently I have received an email tell me that .so domain is now available to the public.
I just think that most ccTLDs are just with little influence, except some big ones, like .us, .de, .co
.com is the KING for a very long time, or in the future.

They're useful for two things.

One: if you need a short URL, they're useful since you can cut an extra character and it's more likely you can get a short URL which means something to your audience (I use dolr.tk for my financial blog for example). Plus, if you can add use the ccTLD to form a name (i.e. the way StumbleUpon created SU.PR or the New York Times uses nyti.ms) then they're ideal.

The other time they're useful is if you want to sell within that country. For example, if you want to sell products to the UK, it's useful to get a .co.uk account and if you want to sell in Japan, it's useful to get .co.jp, etc.
