More people search for "attorney" than "weight loss"

Does the Google kw tool actually work?
I was surprised to see some unexpected search result numbers.

So more people are actually searching for an "attorney" than for "weight loss" and more people are searching for an "automobile accident attorney" or a "dui defense attorney" than for "weight loss diets".

No wonder lawyers are rich

Yup, trying to rank for anything related to a legal practice is extremely difficult and it's not surprising it gets more searches than weight loss. After all, 'weight loss' is not something everyone will need to search for but I guarantee you that most people will need an attorney at some point in their life.

Another example is the massively overhyped 'make money online' niche which gets far less searches than some hobby related keywords get, yet people foam at the mouth about it.

Back in the early '90's (preinternet days) I was putting a marketing campaign together and figured the phone book would be a good resource for determining the saturation of businesses in our local area by type.

Turned out there were 63 pages devoted to attys, far more than any other group.

Just goes to show that a little researching can provide surprising results...

I was surprised to find out of out my own personal "hobbies" got a 100K searches a month and there are NO products.... hehehe

I like your logic.

That is why I guess we all need to live somewhere (real estate =30M), where something (clothing=24M) and entertain ourselves (porn =244M, lady gaga=48M, sex=344M).

I guess weight loss is a micro-niche when one looks at things with your logic.

Very few lawyers are rich, but unfortunately a lot of them are willing to pay money to obtain paying work. The reality is, there are a lot of lawyers out there chasing a relatively small number of paying clients.

This is why DUI clicks pay a lot.
