Hey Warriors, Just saw this at the top of my gmail account Coming soon: Better Ads in Gmail - Gmail Help It's Google saying they're going to change/improve the way they do ads in Gmail... Which means this will probably come into Adwords and Search Results once they iron out the tweaks. Better make sure your stuff is covered. Sorry if this sounds alarmist...I just get a sense reading this that there's more than meets the eye here. Cheers, Brad |

I think it all just comes right back to the "Don't be cr*p" philosophy of marketing. All the adjustments I see the Big G making are primarily aimed at weeding the garbage out of the internet and matching people with high quality content through searches and ads. This just means we can't be lazy and mass produce the same ol' stuff, offer up thin or weak content and campaigns, or come across as spammy in any way. If we're all conscientious, imaginative and really thinking about who the people are we're trying to reach, and what they really want to see, it can only be a good thing for search and ad serving to move up the quality scale. The bottom line is, don't be part of the group that gets weeded out. Be part of the quality that gets the increased portion of the spotlight. P.S. Talking about the changing marketing implications of the ad serving mechanism is a bit different to the privacy issue I think... |

Well google has has problems with snooping our privacy for a long time now. But will i discontinue to use gmail? no i wont! if the ads are small enough i dont care. Gmail is a great service. As far as the privacy goes, if you are going to do something sneaky i wouldnt do it off my main email account anyway... |
