Default How well does .TV compare to .COM?

I can't get the .com so I am thinking that .TV would be the best second option. What kind of weight does the .TV have?

How does .TV compare to .com, .info, .net, etc.

If .net, .org arent available then I would go for it. Just provide good content and a solid seo plan and any tld will rank imho.

(Maybe) a tad bit more seo effort will be needed.

The weight I would say varies from keyword to keyword due to different competition.

You may find a few people search for your site like yourdomaintv.com a few times instead of yourdomain.tv .

Also you can use stop words or an extra letter or a number to get a .com too.

While I agree that any TLD can rank, I'd argue that a .tv site won't hold as much "value" in the eye of the beholder than a .com or .net would.

It is a double-edged sword, really.

.TV is great. Because of the high price the sites tend to be less spammy. I think thats something search engines are going to start taking notice of.

Are you saying that Google will start giving .tv more weight because it cost more to purchase? That would be interesting.

...it is viable though, as only people with serious intentions would spend the money to purchase the domain. I wouldn't be surprised if Google already programs for this kind of thing.

From my personal experience the only value I've seen lost is when people go to retype the domain name and some forget the original tld.

My foreign tlds make sales from the USA just as if they were .com.

So, if i had just skip these niches altogether just because the .com was gone I'd miss sales indeed.

Costly advice imho.

And in a search engine environment copy trumps everything. Meta descriptions will either grab attention or lose it in an instant.

I can click on an exact match .com domain just to find an adsense site that don't answer my query.

Maybe i'm missing something.

You'll see it happen with .CO first, but its going to happen. The big G already gives extra weight to domains that are pre-registered for longer lengths of time.

There have been many announcements out of Google lately about putting quality content on to page one. They're going to start making assumptions about TLD's and whole IP blocks. Mark my words...

Oh, please don't let me give the impression that I'm giving advice. LOL. That would be Armageddon for all involved.

I was posing a question out of pure curiosity more than anything.

I'm glad you cleared up a few of my ill-conceived misconceptions about the .tv TLD. I'm glad you are having success with it. I won't be scared to purchase one next time I'm forced to.

Well...............If .com is not available then I would like to move forward to .net or .org whichever is available because .tv require more hard work to get rank in GOOGLE.

If the domain extension matches your site purpose then it would work very well probably even better than .com as it is more focused or targeted.
