The best thing for building backlinks this year was the release of a few indexing tools. Not just tools that ping... but tools that actually get links indexed. There has also been a private blog network that's taking the whole blog posting on high pr blogs idea to a whole new level. |

There are some, but still underdeveloped such as: 1. social signals (how twitter, facebook and flickr can affect search rankings). social sharing is now being treated as a link building method. 2. deep linking (external) seems to be the new formula for Pagerank sculpting (just my opinion, as to what I've observed on the recent Google Pagerank update). 3. Curation - it's being utilized by most seasoned bloggers recently (but it's an old practice, it's just beginning to be a trend).
