New Domain - Top Spot On Google In 10 Hours.

Hello, just a quick question. I setup a new domain, DID NOT EVEN submit to Google and 10 hours later it was ranked #3, #6, and #7 for my keywords. Is this common? Thanks.

It can happen for certain extremely keyword rich domains with little competition in the SEO and PPC space, yes.

If those keywords really are in high demand Tell us how you did it because you can work magic.

Check Archives.org and see if it has been indexed before. It may have a booster already attached or maybe no keyword competition. But it will drop if no relevant content is added.

Are you logging into your google account or anything? I have surprised myself a few times thinking I'm #1 only to realise I was logged in and google was ranking my sites 1st as I visit them a lot. If not - excellent work

Happens all the time, the site will drop back a few pages in the SERP If you don't do anything else (backlinks, etc...).

No, I do not log into my Google account. I check the keywords from my blackberry and another computer. . .

No. I am using what I discovered with all of my domains. Keeps working the same. One of friends in Calgary asked me what the heck happened? It was all explained to him and he gets the same results.

Then why are you asking if this is common?

It is common to debut somewhat high, and then in a week or so you will be low, unless you do a lot of backlinks and regularly update content.

Then you should have no problem sharing this technique without giving away you specific niches.

I have worked in this way for a number of years and many people have benefited from my experiences. Many heads are better than one.

You can get that. But the key is to retain that. Google does lots of shuffle in rankings very frequently, and if you want your site to stay there - you can't rely on this one-time hit. You need to work on content and links. There is no other magic that can make it happen.

Thanks, only it is NOT a one time hit. I can easily reproduce it for any of my domains. Heck, I can even do it with non keyword domains.

I have been writing a few blogs since about a year and half now. One of my blogs has a PR of 2 and I want to get it to be at 5.. Lots of great info here. I recently also started another blog (got active again). Does it matter that I was inactive for a while and now can I still shoot for a good PageRank? Thanks!

So technically your title is misleading then... 3, 6, and 7 are not #1, which would be the 'top spot'.

Ranking on the keywords depends upon the backlinks & competation of the keywords. Low competation keywords are easily rank on the search engines
