Default Will it hurt my site to delete some pages?

I recently signed up for Build My Rank and they rejected one of my sites saying that it is basically made up of content from article directories. I bought this site several years ago and have done little with it except for adding a couple of original articles. Traffic is nonexistent and probably the content is largely responsible. I'd like to clean up the site and concentrate on writing new pages and backlinking. Is there any problem with just deleting the pages with article directory content? Is it necessary to do a 301 redirect? This is a static site done in Xsite Pro and I am really not confident in doing a redirect. Would really prefer not to unless it would really mess up the site to not do so.
The url is http://www.sleep-help-4u.com if you want to take a look to see if there is anything else glaringly wrong that I don't notice. I am still pretty much a novice.
I think this site could have potential with some work. Thanks.

It will hurt your SEO if the pages that you want to delete have pagerank from sites linking to that page.

No pagerank and no traffic. This entire site only gets maybe 8-10 visitors a day.

Yeah. Agree with you quiintoboyer. You will hurt your domain pagerank if you delete some of the pages since your domain rank influenced by the rank of the pages in your website.

I say delete away.

It is your site. It is a reflection of you and your work.

As you said, you have diddly in current traffic. Maybe deleting some stuff will improve the site and improve your traffic and rankings.

If the stuff you are removing is crappy, then get rid of it. Show your visitors the best you have to offer. You can alternatively bury the pages and just seo what you want.

Don't understand what you are saying
Yes delete, just make sure you have no broken links, (links on other pages in your site pointing to the pages you want to delete)
Cheers

You are certainly going to get a hit on the index of those pages if not the pagerank as these pages are there for a long time and they must be cached and indexed by the search engines.
I would suggest you to put a meta refresh code in these pages for some time and later remove it once search engines will stop coming over there.

Instead of deleting you can edit those pages and put some new contents there.
If that page is no longer needs delete and redirect to 404 page with links to home page and other article pages

Katied772,
I did a quick check for you, all your backlinks except one are from PR 0 site. This one backlink is from a PR1 web page and it is a relevant backlink as well, which is a bonus.

If you are not changing your niche, change the content and maybe layout of the homepage rather than deleting it. If you know how to get backlinks or you can afford to outsource it, then you can delete all pages. To be honest, it is easy to get PR1 backlinks - if you know how; so losing a PR1 backlink is not a major loss loss.
