.co.cc domains are quite cheap. You can get 100 for $10. How good are they for internet marketing? Will they be effective for seo? Does Google has any policy about them and can they be used for adsense sites. Is there anybody who has experience with them.

Technically they are not domains, they are subdomains of CO.CC - Free Domain name registration + Free DNS service. and while it is cheap to register them there is a $3 renewal fee for commercial use. $3 would be cheap for a domain but not so cheap for a subdomain. If you want cheap then register your own domain and you will have unlimited subdomains for free. Now to your question of how they work for SEO. Google does not use domain level signals. So, .co.cc subdomains work the same as any other domain or subdomain. All SEO signals are page level, and neither domains nor subdomains play a role in SEO, with the notable exception of .cc country codes. Using the co.cc domain may give you a slight advantage for ranking in the Australian territory of Cocos Islands, otherwise, it makes no difference.

| According to the common wisdom, domain names do play a role in SEO. It is one of the best signals for determining exact brand name relevance, for example.

Price is just one single issue when it comes to evaluating worth of domains and if you can, try looking for better domains ending in .com format, even if you may need to purchase and established site or older domain because such a deal could be worth it in the long term, when even your address would act as a marketing element. By checking out stats of some top ranking websites in financial niches, you would find most of them powered by easy to remember names, preferably in .com extension that is truly the first choice among domains managers these days. |

First, have you ever seen a .co.cc in the SERPs (I havn't in the US-Google)? Second, every .co.cc I've had the misfortune to stumble onto was 100% crap, I'm talking bottom of the barrel crap (BTW I'm being nice about it). |

I wrote an article 14 Mistakes You May Be Making When Buying Domain Names and one of the mistakes I cover is the extension. Even though for SEO purposes, extension may not SEEM to matter, Google does like com/net/org better internationally (and ccTLDs like .de and .co.uk better in their respective countries). You're better off paying the few bucks extra per domain and stick with the most established and recognized extensions. Bear in mind it's not just what Google likes but what the visitors seeing your domain will think, and .co.cc LOOKS "cheap".

Check out these keywords, you will see a .co.cc on the first page, sometimes position #1. classic beat - Google Search free domain name - Google Search watch online free - Google Search best free traffic sites - Google Search I'm not saying these are good websites, just that .co.cc can rank just as easily as any other TLD.

I'm sure a few sites are out there, I just never see them when I'm searching Google. I think most of the guys running those .co.cc are scrapers banned from other free host (blogspot, etc...). I noticed a lot of the guys on DP running those a couple of years back, I'm sure they still do. Anytime I stumble onto one of those extensions, the first thing I do is hit the back button on my browser. I just see them as worthless scraped content, & that's all I would ever associate that extension as. Quote:

Hi, I created several free co.cc domain in order to test some ideas over the internet. I thought: "let's see how the audience reacts to those websites, if i get some traffic, then i will migrate to a dot com, dot net..." So i created blog with lots of accurate and original contents with long text. It was back in 2010 and co.cc was still indexed by google. In 2011, Google inc de-indexed all the co.cc domain names because of spam. I lost all my traffic to co.cc websites at that point. Then, google inc re-indexed co.cc domain names after negotiation with co.cc company. I thought i would get some traffic. But still i didn't get anything. None of my websites were successful in terms of traffic after 1 year (outside the period when it was not indexed). I remembered i registered one of my co.cc site in every forums and did organic backlinks. The site was myfightagainstcandida.co.cc It didn't get lots of traffic from google search. On the other hand, The same domain name: myfightagainstcandida.com got traffic without lots of back links. In conclusion, i have the feeling, there is a kind of penalty against the co.cc domain names. I think it is a major mistake to try saving money by taking free domain names. I also witnessed it with the dot wordpress com / dot bloodspot com In fact, the most valuable thing in the industry is the traffic to a particular domain name. So the domain name has the biggest value. Plus, you don't know what those companies will become in the future. If they go bankrupt your domain names are dead. Thus, i don't think it is a good idea to take a dot tk or a dot co.cc. They may also decide to delete your domain name for no reasons. That's why, regular Domain names are safer. |

Google has banned and penalized all the sites which used a co.cc sub-domain. Co.cc is a free domain name registrar which offers sub-domains in bulk. Due to increase amount of web spam and poor quality sites and especially with all of the recent criticism towards its search engine Google was forced to take a serious action to fight against web spam and help protect its users with good quality links. These domain are not good at all. Be aware.!

| They are subdomains of co.cc and not domains. They are FREE so I don't know why would you even pay $10 for 100 .co.cc subdomains. You can even have free web hosting for such domains to experiment things. But for professional purpose, nobody prefers them. They looks spammy and fake to others. So I wouldn't recommend using them for professional purpose.
