Hi Guys, well this has got me stuffed, I have just built a WP site, launched about 3 weeks ago, URL 3D Phone Reviews puts the Future within your Touch I had this site parked for 8 months so it had a head start and was indexed already, and so I didnt have to fight my way up from the very bottom of the pack. It has done really well and was as high as number 3 for the main keyword, 3d phone, and the same for 3d mobile, which I am also chasing, no issues, and doing really well for others like 3d phone review. 3d sharp phone, and basically lots of long tail keywords. But for some strange reason, twice now in a row, google has thrown it back to page 6 -7 for 3d phone, but left it alone for the other keywords. over a week I worked my way up to number 3 page 1 again, then bam, down to page 7, ahhhh, what the #$%@ So Google seems to have a problem with just that keyword on this site. I did start with a method I wouldn't replicate, which is forum back linking, using the keyword 3d phone and 3d mobile, which I am now thinking is to black hat for google, and so am doing everything correctly, but even this has a balance of both keywords as backlinks. Anybody who can provide me the answer to this question can have a job on my team, lol ![]() cheers |

This may simply be "settling" or Google dance as some call it. Even though your site was parked for 8 months the content and keywords are still new. The content is reviewed by "robots" and when new they have little information to go on and so can seem to make some irrational and sweeping changes. The other reason you may see wild changes in your keyword rankings is probably down to Google ongoing algorithm changes. we hear about the biggies but i guess they change something at least every day if not more often. Every change has to be tested live and Google quote things like "only effecting 0.01% of keywords". But, if that's your keywords!!. If you are at all aware of how this kind of "update" works you will know that it is rare to make a change that works perfectly. Several minor changes will follow to fix the anomalies. It is this, I suspect, that finds odd sites or keywords going up and down like yoyo's for periods of time with no apparent logical explanation. Bottom line is everyone can only speculate as to the reasons but from personal experience this kind of thing happens all the time. Especially with "new" sites but I've even had it on 2 year old sites. BTW (de-)index refers to sites/pages and not keywords. The Google index is simply that, the index of web pages. It has no relationship to search engine ranking. Search engine ranking are related specifically to keywords. So your page may not rank for a specific keyword but it is still likely to be indexed. |
