Default Ok to change H1 size?

Any opinions on the latest yes/no on whether you can change the size of an H1 tag in CSS without effecting the SEO advantages?

The H1 tags are so damn big. I have heard you can change the size, font, color without a problem (as long as it is still and H1 tag in the stylesheet).

I have also heard you shouldn't mess with it - other than color.

I have numerous sites, but not enough data to support either opinion.

Thoughts?

I've never had any problems ranking in the SERPs, resizing the <h1> with CSS.

Regarding H1 the old myth is true:
Size does not matter.

Changing it will not hurt rankings.

A lot of people just don't use H1 and H2 tags because they can be big and ugly on some Wordpress themes, this choice obviously affects their onpage SEO strength.

For God's sake, format the tags all you like, just USE THEM

I actually did that same thing on one of my new sites today, the size of the font will have no effect on your seo.

Yes, you can resize or recolor or whatever with CSS. It is still an H1 tag.
