SEO effects on a Sub Domain

Hi guys, just a quick one.

If I apply all aspects of on page SEO to a sub domain should it still rank as freely as a regular domain. (using wordpress)

For example:

keyword = london plumber
domain url = londonplumber.londonbiz.co.uk

should I rank for london plumber just like normal?

You will definitely get the advanatge because of keyword being in URL. But you will not get as much as benefit if you had ONLY the keyword in URL. Hope that makes sense to you.

But again there is an upside to using subdomain - if your root domain has some existing authority and backlinks, you get some initial advantage in terms of link juice and ranking.
