Default PSD to HTML to PSD to HTML5

When it comes to website development, PSD to HTML is one of the most trusted and preferred method of converting PSD files into a suitable markup. This conversion helps to get an effective, professional and completely error free website. However, with the advent of HTML5, the demand for PSD to HTML5 conversion has increased considerably. HTML5 is an advanced and improved version of HTML. HTML5 has a number of advanced features that help to extend the functionality of a site to a great degree.

There already was an intense competition among the companies providing PSD to XHTML/HTML services. With the introduction of HTML5, the competition has become all the more intense. Although there has been a shift from PSD to HTML to PSD to HTML5, but it would be a bit too early to say which one is going to dominate the web world.

HTML is a well known and most preferred markup language. It helps to describe and structure the contents and appearance of web pages in the World Wide Web. It is widely used by web developers all over the world. There is no doubt that it is the predominant markup language that serves as a basic building block to structure and describe web pages of a site. However, with the advent of HTML5, the web developers have started using it to explore the number of benefits offered by it.
Some of the basic differences in both the versions are:

The DOCTYPE is longer in THML as compared to HTML5.
Unlike HTML, HTML5 has <audio> and <video> elements available.
HTML5 is supported by all the major browsers like Firefox, Opera, Chrome etc whereas HTML is only supported by few old browsers.

At this stage, it is too early to predict the future of HTML5. What can surely be said is that it provides a number of features and is going good till now. One thing is for sure that the scope of converting PSD to CSS/HTML will remain same. The reason behind this is simple- issues like unformatted and unstructured XHTML-CSS codes cannot be resolved by HTML5.
Only time will tell how deeply HTML5 impacts the web development process. With its exciting features, it does look promising. HTML5 comes with scripting application programming interfaces (APIs), Web Forms 2.0, another WHATWG specification, new "semantic" tags, error handling capability and backward compatibility etc. Only time will tell whether PSD to HTML5 will rule the roost or not.
