I have posted this question somewhere else, and I got conflicting answers. If I have a domain, say chickenhens.net, and a chickenhens.com already exists, and chickenhens.com says "content and design produced by Niche Profit Sites", and chickenhens does not appear to be a registered trade mark (searched for at Trademarks Home) or actually company name or brand, could I potentially run into any legal or quasi-legal headaches if I use chickenhens.net as my own niche site? I would be planning to use original content and so forth, all 100% legitimate in that regard. This relates to SEO I think it seems, so I'll post this here and hopefully, that is alright and appropriate. Thank you a trillion for any feedback in advanced. |

If it isn't trademarked, you're fine.

Michael, are you just using chicken hens as an example? You see trade marking a generic term like this woud be very difficult to do so I would see no potential legal issues. If however you are talking of a company name e.g. VeryComInc.com and you buy VeryVomInc.net and VeryComInc.com have operated a company with that name and can prove they have marketed that name then you could enter potential legal issues even if they don't have a trademark. I hope this helps Kenny |
