Default important point to beat Google Panda

I found bounce rate is more important than ever,Google use it as rule to evaluate your site's quality.

so if your site is not content farm and you was hit by Google Panda,you can try to optimize your bounce rate.

The bounce rate represents the quality of your web site. If person types “how to make money at home” Google want to serve this person and give the best quality. So if a bounce percentage is high I suggest making content more relevant and create for example optin box with super offer so that people will stay for a while.

Another bit of advice to reduce bouncing is to look at your analytics and try to match the title of the page with the most common search term that people use - or to include the most common keywords that people us in your titles, subtitles etc.

Stop...its not that easy as you say because it depends highly on the type of site.

A sales page where you offer something and people are quick to buy after they read the sales letter would also have a high bounce rate... and..

While site-wide bounce rate can be a useful metric for sites with well-defined conversion steps requiring multiple page views, it may be of questionable value for sites where visitors are likely to find what they are looking for on the entry page. This type of behavior is common on web portals and referential content sites.[citation needed] For example, a visitor looking for the definition of a particular word may enter an online dictionary site on that word's definition page. Similarly, a visitor who wants to read about a specific news story may enter a news site on an article written for that story. These example entry pages could have a bounce rate above 80% (thereby increasing the site-wide average), and they might still be considered successful due to having served their purpose.

High bounce rates are results of visitors leaving as soon as they reach. This simply means they found something that they werent really looking for.. So the idea is to make content more relevant and useful. The best method is to narrow down your niche and strictly stay within your expertise.

@GeorgeR

I hope that runs true for adsense sites as well. I wonder whether Google takes that into account if a visitor clicks an adsense ad on the first page view?

LOL... so my site with a #2 ranking in a very competitive keyword, that happens to have 70% bounce rate.... is in better shape than the one I had at #3, for a not so competitive keyword, bounce rate of 20% and is down somewhere in the 170's.

This is not strictly true. When a user bounces the page it just means that they don't go further into the site and leave the page they entered first. If they find extremely relevant and useful content that suits their needs perfectly, the chances are that they will leave your site before going any further.

SO bounce rate can indicate GREAT content, not poor content necessarily. I would say a mixture of bounce rate and time on page will be a better indicator. If a user bounces after 10 seconds on the page they probably haven not been impressed.
