Hi! It's well-known that in case your domain name includes keywords, it boosts your SERPs. So I am wondering whether the following combinations will give me a considerable impact in search engines, let's say my targeted keyword is "payday loans": 1) thepaydayloans.com 2) payday-loans.biz First one contains an extra word - "the", second one has a .biz extension and contains dash. I have found some attractive offers on domian auctions, but I want to be sure the domains are worth their price. |

Go for this "thepaydayloans.com" This domain is more valuable from SEO point of view.

ok, thanks for the opinion, and if I'd like to purchase them both, what would you say about the second one? Will it be a good choice for SEO? I saw that yahoo and bing rank this type of domains (containg just keywords and dash) very high: some websites that are not optimized at all are present on the first page for keyword with upper-medium competition. Though I am talking about ones with .com extension - so is the ,biz extension plays any role or not? |

Ok, I will clarify everything for you. Keywords in domain don't give extra power to boost you in SERPs. But if someone links to you they can use your domain name in anchor and you will get benefit. Having keywords in URL alone wont help.

The presence of the word "The" is nothing to be worried about because it sometimes is simply not even counted by search engines or systems which give ranks to the websites and as you may guess, the first domain address is preferred from several aspects. First of all it contains no dashes in anyway which is one great move because cool names are easy to remember and spell, containing no hyphens as much as possible. Secondly it contains your main terms and also it has the popular .com extension. Your second name has .biz format which in the long term may cause some issues because people who are going to bookmark your web address might mistakenly use the .com or even .net addresses. When it comes to launching a new commercial site, sticking to names that are free from hyphens and are in .com form can be cool. |

I think I will purchase the first domain, I had no doubts about it because it is easy-to-remember, what about the other, actually I agree: it is a bad pick as a company name, but I hope it will be good for SEO. Anyway, will see. | ||
