hey,
First up let me just warn you that im a complete noob in regards to SEO. I have done ALOT of reading on the topic and teaching myself.
The main thing im struggling with is link building, and how it is done on a large scale (say how SEO agencies go about it)?

From everything i've read it mentions asking other sites for links. This seems all well and good for hobby or small business websites, but what about large sites? How do they obtain thousands and thousands of quality links?

I suppose im just having trouble envisioning what it is actual SEO consultants (ie: not small website owners) do in their jobs day to day, and their specific tasks. I have learned alot of theory but just cant apply this section of my readings to the real world.

Sorry if none of that made sense, i just sort of spat it out. It probably doesnt as im still learning hah.

Most "large sites" started from small sites, they either built very early or invest lots of money. The most important thing is they can provide unique and high quality contents, so they basically needn't worry about those things bothered you to death...

Most of the new sites which wants to become "large" are buying high pr backlinks. PR4+

The main thing im trying to grasp is, what exactly do SEO consultants do on a day to day basis? Its all well and good to say "they build links" but how do they build links? I mean say for example for a mid sized car insurance company, what would they do day to day in thei SEO efforts? Write articles etc?
