Take a look at this website: Coupons, Grocery Coupons, Printable Coupons, Coupon Database, Coupon Match Ups, Restaurant Coupons, Coupon Codes

The ads not only blend in perfectly with the site, but the entire design encourages clicking them.

Click on "Coupon Database" on the top menu. It's easier to click on the Adsense block than it is to register or login.

They've done an awesome job, and I bet their income is through the roof.

92K backlinks, #1 for "grocery coupons" and top 3 for a bunch more...lots of love went into that site...

same question...i think you need to have lots of "Google love" before you are able to use such custom ads blocks. Probably need minimum traffic/revenue until you can apply for this.

Its because they have a premium adsense publisher account, much like many of the larger article directories, etc., that show custom ad formats. I am not sure what exactly you have to do to become a premium publisher, but I believe it is by invite only and you have to have some where around 20 million page views per month on your adsense account, don't quote me on that though.

Im pretty sure they reached Premium Publisher status with all those KILLER 1,000 word articles of quality unique "content" i keep coming across all over the site :-)

When I visited the site it is pretty much nothing but adsense and affiliate links. If I built something like that it would probably get me kicked out of Adsense.

If you are a newbie that is not how to built an adsense site or it may get you banned, but once you have some time in they may let it go.

Agreed - that was the intent of my post - the thing is just an add and like NO content ... that we can see.

Yeah, the trick is NOT to start your site like that. I'm guessing this is not their first site.

After you do few sites the 'right' way, and get a G. Rep and a premium publisher account, you can SAFELY go crazy with all sorts of junk site/content and awful ad placements.

Most people see sites like this, and try to do the same and get banned. It's the wrong way.

Bingo! Sites like couponmom.com, askthebuilder.com and others have authority site and premium adsense publisher status.

They represent a huge cash cow to Google and the site owners are rolling in the clicks due to favorable TOS that would get lesser sites banned in a heartbeat.

If you took couponmom.com's home page and covered up the header, you'd have a prototype MFA site layout that would not stand a chance of surviving a manual review.

Looks like they are premium adsense publisher. (Mid adsense blocks indicates that.)
Sidebar 160x600 and mid 360x280 (looks like) blocks seems to be ok in terms of TOS. But i would'nt suggest what they are doing wih the 728x15 horizontal link units at the bottom, because that is tricky and encourages visitors for accidental clicks and that can get your banned. More likely this is how they did it:

On the contrary, that doesn't encourage accidental clicks at all, it encourages intentional clicks, which is against Adsense rules.....well, for the little people, anyway. They likely make exceptions for big hitters like this. All Adsense publishers are equal, but some are more equal than others.
