Hey Guys just need some quick help... I've had an authority site (5 years old) that has been dominating the top keywords in my niche. I recently started updating content after a 1 1/2 year hiatus... needless to say google kicked me back to the 2nd page for most of my top keywords. I'm updating regularly now, about 1 article every day or 2 days (The slap happened about 3 weeks ago). Is there any hope that my site gets back to #1 just by waiting? Or do I have to start getting a bunch of new outbound links again? Any light that can be shed would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Neekz. |

I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment. It will probably come back up. Sounds more like a dance than a slap. Give it a few days to a few weeks it will probably pop back up.

I wouldnt worry about it. New fresh links are never a bad idea though.

As others have mentioned...it could just be a dance. ![]() Also, have you checked the rankings consistently from the same location? Is it possible that you simply pulled ranking results from a different data center or possibly a data center from another country? All the best, Jack Duncan |

My main site has been around 10 years and has danced up and down the rankings so much it makes my head spin, usually in response to changes or additions I make (changing themes, adding unique articles, adding on-page SEO, etc.) but always makes its way back up. The latest Google changes regarding unique content really helped me move to page 2 for a very, very competitive two-word keyword, and in the top 2 for six other satellite sites with long-tail keywords. The worst was when I moved my main site out of an aging Postnuke platform into Wordpress. It dropped out of sight for a month before working back up. No worries for me. I'm in for the long haul, as I think any serious IMer has to be. Just my $.03. gary |

I feel ya, I just dropped off of page one into the abyss a few days ago. No fun indeed.

I would recommend building some new backlinks over the next few weeks and see if that helps bring it back.

It is probably just a dance. Expect over a week or so, and maybe longer. I would honestly say to expect over a month.
