Default Beginning of another Google dance - Should I be excited?

People seem to be constantly posting panicked stories about how their website recently dropped in the SERPs. Terrified of the tragic results caused by the Google dance or possibly even the so called "sandbox(of DOOM!)"

In my experience though (which I willingly admit is not a whole lot compared to many on these forums, I'm still relatively new) it seems that this can be a sign that if you continue to add backlinks like you have been the site is about to move up. I have also read this to be true to the experience of others on this forum.

So I figured that in contrast to all of the "Oh NO! My site is in the Sandbox!!!!" threads, I would create one to let everyone know that one of my sites has also dropped in the rankings today - and I'm actually kind of happy about it!

You see, I haven't actually achieved a number 1 ranking for any of my main targeted keywords yet. I've still been getting a feel in my spare time for what is needed to do something like that. One of my sites in particular has been stuck at #5 for a little while now. I've been doing some high PR blog comments (high PR on the same page as the comment not the homepage of the blog) and that has helped with rankings on other keywords but not the one that I'm really hoping for right now - it hasn't moved for a couple of weeks.

Last night, I downloaded the trial version of SENuke X and this morning I began a test run with the software. I actually did this primarily targeting a different keyword that has more traffic but also more competition, for which I'm ranked somewhere around #40-45. However, it was setup to target secondarily the keyword that I'm focusing on for this website wanting to hit #1.

Tonight, logged into adsense and noticed that I didn't have as many page views as normal. I checked my rankings and discovered that this page has dropped down to #11.

Now I'm hoping, that since I scheduled that Senuke run over a number of days that as those links continue to be found my site will jump up and actually come back higher than #5. Sure I might lose a few clicks in the meantime, but if I can inch a little closer to #1 I will be happy.

And I'm excited to see a little movement going on which shows that Google is paying attention and is working on re-evaluating my site. If it decides I'm up to par, my theory is that I will be rewarded with a higher ranking.

I think that is the main thing people need to remember when they see their site bouncing around rather than feeling like the sky is falling.

I've been off the Warrior forum for a while, but I'm back now. Check out my blog:

Hmmm, good positive attitude oogyboogawa! And in response to should you be excited for another Google dance: only if you brought the right shoes.

Great attitude. I still battle with this myself, but yes generally I also try to be excited. It means that usually your site will come back stronger as long as you just keep doing what you were doing.

I like your mentality. I get happy when my site's start dancing because they always land higher up.
