Default Getting confused with title tags, meta descriptons and more

I've set up a wordpess blog and are reading some excellent SEO WSO's that all refer to having your key word in
-title tag
-meta description
-as many header tags as possible.

Fine, I can understand that. So I install SEO plugins like "All in one SEO" to do this.

The problem is that in the plug in you see the terms
-home title
-home description
-home keywords
-various titles

So is title tag the same as home title?

If not, how do you set/change title tags and meta description???

Feeling very confused

Title tag is the home title. Most SEO plugins in Wordpress helps you customize the best meta tags. I use "platinum SEO" and that works best for me.

You can use custom meta tags with ALL in One SEO. I do not use the same page title and Title Tag. I believe variety is the real key. For instance, I want my keywords and brand to be in the title tag for every page. But, it would be silly to have that same title be the blog post title.

As for meta description, this is the first content any of your visitors see. It is the reason people will click to your site- or not click to your site. I take time to spell out their pain, show I am the solution, and have keywords within the desc. (The keywords will be bolded).

Hi Brendon,

Technically there is no such thing as "Home Title", there is just a page title. The plugin has simply shortened the label to save space. That field label refers to the "page title of the homepage". Each page has it's own title and each should be unique. That same shortening technique is used for "home description" and "home keywords". when you see "home" in a field label for that plugin, just think "homepage".

To have my key words and brand in the title tag of every page as you suggested, I used "%blog_title% | %post_title%" in the post title format and it worked Confused no longer!!!
