why not meet in the middle and go grey hat! :P Unless you have years to wait for ranking in competitive markets and the ability to generate amazing viral link bait, I would say do both and see what you like the most. Something about strict white hat SEO's has always bugged me... I picture them as God preaching hippies who are judgmental to other peoples beliefs... If White Hat SEO was God, Matt Cutts would be Jesus and Rand Fishkin would be his main disciple LOL |

Black hat will usually return faster results, but it's also risky and you're likely to tarnish your brand name. I'd do some gray hat stuff, but prefer to stick to white hat if possible. |

Strange I just purchased a cycling cap that's black and white. Hmmm. Deja Vu? What is better. To build a legitimate business or to cheat your way to the top and watch everything fall and collapse. I guess it depends on your morals and ethics. |

Black Hat is tempting, but also has consequences. I'd stick to white hat just to stay friends with the search engines  I just feel like Black Hat has a negative stigma attached to it, but hey if it works.

If you are serious about SEO then use only white-hat. Blackhat is bad and will generally hurt your website. If you have a website that you wish to rank and make money from then don`t use blackhat.
