I had 5 maybe 6 sites just drop off the map. But, I'm setting up to slap them back. This isn't my entire plan but, it's a good place to start. Five Ways to Tackle a Panda and Get Back into Google's Good Graces | Stompernet Blog | Empowering Your Online Success# |

It seems that the latest Google updated affected millions of websites. However if you post unique content on your website and build quality backlinks your websites will be back.

I have many quality backlinks. I don't know the exact number but more than most of my competitors. My sites will be back but, Google is taking a back seat to other marketing methods.

Being that adsense is 1 of my 4 income streams, I went another marketing route.....google is definitely out of the #1 spot for my adsense traffic! I have about 18 sites monetized for adsense, 10 of them I haven't done any backlinks for because i don't want to get slapped, despite original content, with all this talk about "pandas" and "farmers" ![]() The other 8 make me some money...so I said, instead of ranking the new 10 for google, I'll 1st try another traffic source that I had been hearing about. So I have 2 new sites where i did no keyword research, just got the domains and tested this other traffic and the results are below for those 2 sites!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Get hold of Sean Donahoe's new course Extreme Niche Empires. In there he fully covers just how his (and his students') sites were not slapped ...and why they actually got a bit of a boost from Panda. If Sean wasn't such a nice guy, you could hate him, lol. At least he's sharing |

Not sure what the purpose of the article was, but it sure is low-brow to be sure. 5 things on how to get back into google's graces? I dunno. "1. Remove any pages with “scraped” content." Well, maybe. Depends on the definition of scraped. Scraped content can be good. "2. Keep outside advertising to a minimum." Have you ever been to a real big website? nytimes, etc.? Obviously not. Google bases their whole empire on advertising. Kind of misleading. If you have nothing but ads, that's a different story. But lots of ads is just fine. "3. Be sure that your customers have a way to contact a human being." Ecommerce sites of course. I don't have any, so there is no reason for me ever to put a contact me button. There's always whois. I don't want people to contact me except for advertising and they do that just fine via whois. "4. Do everything you can to get traffic. " I've always done that. But that has nothing to do with getting back into google's good graces. "5. Get quality backlinks. Don’t buy them — ever. " Paid links are the basis of google's empire. They love paid links. What they hate is people using paid links to tweak their PR. Big difference. Google has never said that paid links are bad. Just SOME paid links are bad. So to tell people NEVER to buy links is just lousy advice. If you followed all google webmaster guidelines (sheesh how many friggin years have been preaching that?) You have no need to fear the panda, Easter bunny, Santa Claus, etc. Paul |

All my sites were ok. However, I had a lot of articles on these "content farms" - a lot of them got slapped pretty good.

Most of what he teaches I already knew. But, he does clarify some things and/or puts a little twist on them.

This Google mambo jambo every month can be compared to socialites discussing the news from Hollywood They need something new almost every day...One thing to notice: as soon as people try to get their sites back from "quack update" or "stardom update"... they'll get hammered next one. It's just the way it goes. Point is: IF you're going to get hammered there is "virtually" nothing you can do it about it - assuming you follow Google's basic rules. Google is a machine always moving it's pieces from one side to the other. You can try to run after them... but... it's not worth it, unless you have some inside information. Thats why solid white hat SEO (errr.. common sense, really) and a strict following of Google's own rules is the best way to go. Just my 2 cents.

| As no one has actually got rankings back of sites that were affected by Panda, care to explain how you know that?

My main income site was drop out of site...not sure when it's going to be back. The strange thing is I used the same approach regarding content and promotion but one of them disappeared. Too hard to guess what's the cause.

In the meantime, I'm just writing new articles to add to my original content (my whole site is written by me), and hoping things will turn around. In the meantime, I'm focusing a lot on local traffic at the farmers' market by labeling my products with my website and handing out business cards. Hasn't resulted in much except for I'm getting feedback about our products which is always good. So, with the new job I'll be starting shortly and the incredible jump in farmers' market sales, I'm still doing okay, but the site problems are definitely a bummer - I was on track to at least be able to pay for my internet bill (not making millions, that's for sure), and now nada. We'll see how it plays out.

| I would have never guessed the cause without help from the Google Webmasters Forum. You might try having one of them take a look.

| I think you are correct with that. The same people get hammered over and over. Needlessly.
