Question about estimated CPC

I have an exact match .com, that gets 2000 monthly searches.

The domain is the name of a city with "citycentre" before it.

So, citycentreCityName.com

You'll see that I used the uk spelling, centre, rather than the american center. The city is in the U.S.

the domain with "center" has over 20k monthly searches and a cpc of $1.20

my domain, with "centre" has a cpc of $0

Does this matter? I mean, both users are searching for the same thing?

Can I make money off my long tail key word?

I would think that if your content is optimized for the keyword that gets the $1.20 cpc, then google will show these adsense ads because the ads would be relevant to the content.

I really screwed up my first keyword research for a domain. I got no traffic from Google even though I was on page on and the Google Keyword Tool showed that there was quite a bit of traffic.

The problem was that the term was a UK term and the people there use google.co.uk, and they get completely different SERPs for that particular keyword.

Now it's actually earning some money but my point is that you've got to make sure what your keyword's main audience is. I always make sure now to go to google insights and see which country is doing the majority of the searching for that keyword.

Likewise, not many people are gonna search for a US city longtail keyword with British vocab I wouldn't think. So although you'll probably be able to make some adsense revenue, but I don't think it'll generate very much. Especially considering a CPC of $1.20 probably means 0.30 or less per click already.

But with all things relating to SEO, testing is king.

cool, so i'd use center in the content instead of centre I take it?

You could spell both different ways in your text on the site so Google gets the idea perhaps.
