Despite all my best efforts, traffic went down by 50%, whats the right formula now, I am confused!!!

This is getting really frustrating, for the past three days, my sites traffic kept going down and down...all of my sites are more than a year old, has PR ranging from pr 1 - pr 4, with decent backlinks built throughout the years and with tons of content....in short they are quality sites...

I have seven sites that earn an average of $30-$40 a day in adsense and at least $200-$300 a month in clickbank....now I am back at $10-$20 a day with adsense for the past 3 days and no sales in clickbank....

Whats even frustrating is I was kicked out of first page for a good keyphrase, by a facebook page ....i think its unfair....

despite applying and meeting the requirements to rank, I think I am failing now...So what is the actual formula now to rank or to stay on the top? its getting confusing....

Well You are doing really good for yourself. There is no exact formula. Here are some suggestions though.

find out your top 20 competiors for your keyword and find out all their backlinks and try to get the same links. I like to use backlinkwatch.com to find their links (its free).

Just keep doing the same thing you are doing.

Build some linkwheels. get some .edu and .gov links, blog commments, article directories, bookmarks. Basically get a wide variety of backlinks. You will back to your postition in no time. Keep up the good work.

Hi azmom07,

You don't just "apply and meet the requirements", to rank you have to out perform your competitors.

The formula has always been to create the most relevant page based on the signals of relevance used by Google's algorithm. The page with the highest relevancy score ranks the highest.

Backlinks play a significant role in influencing Google's ranking algorithm. Get more high value backlinks, and/or optimize your on page signals.

The same thing just happened to me. I have no idea why. Most of my sites are several years old.

I have a dedicated server, ALL of the websites, new, aged, quality, bad ones suddenly keep plunging down for the last three days (together with the income).

I keep checking number of indexed pages but there's no change there, on the contrary, some websites show more indexed pages now.

Is this another Mayday google update, like the one last year?

same here. overall site ranking dropped. first i thought it is google dance but i was wrong. it is because of algorithm change.

I have another site. Its ranking has improved. It is more than 1 year old. For this i created different type of links.

Something changed. I have many sites but my top 2 performers were getting $30 -$40 each every day and for the last 3 days exactly, it's dropped to about 30% traffic and adsense seems to be doing even worse. Yesterday, I got a combined $9 between the two. These are both aged sites as well. Pages indexed have remained the same as well. Very odd.

I am building a new membership site. I am building backlinks and google is recognizing my efforts. I don't assume anything, other than I have to work both harder and smarter than my competitors. I echo what Xiro25 said. You are to be admired for what you have achieved. Rather than let getting knocked out of your google page rank get you down, be willing to work a little smarter to get it back and keep it. :-)

...and i thought im the only one in the boat!! I'm not sure, but something has changed in last 3-4 days and because of that my traffic and earning are going down. I thought its hapening because of weekend days, but now as you guys have mentioned above, its becoming serious. Is it a new algo. update or an upcoming one?

Google is likely always updating their algorithm and I have a feeling this is a result of the latest update.

Take these points.
As your site is old.No need to panic.Create some backlinks.It will come back.Because lot of google dance is going on.Might be temporary.
Whenever you loses the ranking create backlinks that is only way to get back the position.This is why seo need to be done continuosly.

Do some ocassional SEO...But keep posting regularly...
