Godaddy Auctions, Help me decide when to buy a domain....

Hey Warriors,

I use hostgator for my hosting and I also buy domains from there only so I have never bought any domain from godaddy auctions...

but the other day I found a domain at Godaddy auction (highly competitive keyword with the .com extension). Auction ends on 6/11/11 and according to who.is it expires on 2011-12-02. Price for the domain it says is $780. I just read somewhere that the price gets lower at G Auctions when the auction end date is about to come..

Does that really happen? and what happens if no one buys domain and the auction ends?? Does the domain becomes publicly available???
