Question is in the title but my colleague at work told me that if i use these kinds of tools theres a good chance google will black list my site. I don't how this is possible but he reckons google could very easily spot this. Can anyone with a but more experience elaborate on this for me? |

It is a solid maybe, no matter what anyone says.. I have sites it moved up nicley, and one that moved from number 8 to 37 in 2 days after a big run.. I have easy to rank keywords that I can't budge using it.. I don't think there is a reason behind if it works or not..

The general opinion given by experts suggest such links are more likely to be simply ignored by Google, misconduct in external link creation generally won't cause your site great harm because google is aware that competitors could torpedo sites by giving them obvious paid and spam links. Doing the wrong thing on your site, like linking to bad reputation sites is much more like to have ill effect on your site's ranking. |

That helps a lot and I suppose from the last suggestion that if you have some way of controlling the sites that it links from then you may be able to prevent ills sites from affecting your own ranking.

You can be blacklisted even if you DON'T use any of those tools... those tools serve to help bring more traffic to your site. I say, go for it and test it out for yourself. If you screw up, well, that's 1 domain down. But what if you don't? Asher |

If you do get "blacklisted" (assuming you mean deindexed) it will be because of your content/website, not because of a few web 2.0 links or whatever these tools build.

If you hammer forums with automated content, then you will most likely end up being blacklisted on URLBLs, which in turn means that Websites protecting themselves by utilizing URLBL queries, will not take your links. Apart from that, your ISP may kick you when using automated tools excessively and IPs getting banned/blocked |

Yes and No. If you are stupid enough and don't use different IP's or proxy servers...then yes. Things can go wrong. If you are using different IP's then not really. Think about it: How easy it would be to use this software and just nuke your competition? |

Thanks Margo. Naturally this is something of a concern to me. Being a little out of my depth here but am I correct in assuming that as long as my ISP deals out dynamic IP addresses I'm ok in this regard? Or do I still have something to worry about? Finally, is there any tool I can use to work around this. |
