Hi I have 2 sets of hosting and looking to transfer my UK hosting which hosts my uk site to my US hosting company as I have a few sites hosted there so would like them all in the same place. I am worried I may loose my PR and traffic on UK site if I do change. Any advice appreciated Thanks Kathy |

I don't see any problem. Even a Puerto Rico site hosted in UK can achieve top rankings. Is that your fear, lose rankings? Here's a list on how to do it properly: http://www.google.pt/search?q=how+to...ient=firefox-a |

I don't think so because of hosting you can loose your ranking but you have to manage it properly and require proper SEO for your website.

Some SEO expert, perhaps SEOmoz suggested that server proximity to the target audience may be one of the myriad of factors taken into account by google. I'm guessing any difference in the new server's page load time will probably have a greater effect on ranking. |

If you are not happy with uk web hosting provider, you should switch to US based web hosting.

If your web server becomes too slow and it has too much downtime than this can create ranking problems (preventing bots from crawling, too slow page loading and so on...) Page loading time is now, I strongly believe, incorporated to the core algorithm.

I don't think so. PR is affected by backlinks...

You may use SEO hosting from aseohosting.com, they have US and EU services and prices are modest. They are quite respectable for having deals with! |

It has to do with the Google bad neighborhood algo, so check who your neighbors are. Does your hosting company host sites with a bad rep. Maybe things like casino or porn. Check who you share an IP address with and get ready for an ugly surprise. It could make you wake up. First off, you do not want to get lumped in as a scammer. Second, if your web host is down a lot if will crush your ranking and pr. |

It shouldn't affect your PR at all, but moving that big of a distance may affect you rankings. Generally speaking, it's easier to rank in the search engines if your website is hosted in the country of the TLD: .com = US .co.uk = UK So if you have a bunch of .co.uk domains that you plan on moving to a US host, you might see your rankings drop on google.co.uk when you do it. |

Well I think the ansqwer to that question is YES it does depend on where you host for 1st page on google. The reason I say this is because I own little over 50 websites now. About 40 of them are on the 1st page of Google and many in the 1st position. HOWEVER, I have built 3 websites that targeted Chiang Mai Thailand... where my Vacation Condo is and where I spend a lot of free time. All 3 of these websites NEVER ranked on the top page of google and based on my prior research and SEO on the sights ALL 3 should have ranked on the 1st page and probally in the top 3 positions. My hosting company is located in America. Therefore, I strongly believe these websites never made it to the 1st page of google... based purely on the location of my hosting company. |

bottom line make sure the hosting connection is fast, as site speed is a factor in SEO!
