I have a US host but I wonder if that would be too much of a problem for SEO if my target market is in Middle East. Anyone knows?

Very good question, I am thinking about this as well. If you hosting IP is from the US, will that effect the ranking in your target country? I kind of suspect that it might. Not a lot, but I would not be surprised if it mattered. Looking forward to some replies. |

I believe that back-links should be way more important since your organization may need a very reliable & powerful hosting, but you may not find those in your country. Of course, I might be wrong.

It does to a certain extent... recently i came across an article which said that google takes in about 500 variables into equation to rank your site and a similar number more to display the results... So not only the location of you host matter, also the location of your potential visitor matters too.... |

From what I have read, it does make a difference. it won't kill you, but if you are trying to rank for a term that is specifically for the uk as an example, then it makes life a bit easier if the site is hosted on UK servers.
