I found some good keywords for a new adsense site Im going to build, but the .com exact match keyword domains are not available. Only .net and .org I was thinking about buying the .org domain but I have my doubts if its recommended for SEO? Is there a difference? Do .com rank better? Do you recommend more adding a word to the keyword like "tips" "now" "hq" or something like that and buy a .com? Thanks! |

I've heard this before. "If you can't get the .com then go for the .org" I don't have much experience with it but I did recently buy a .org exact matching domain name and it's already #6 for my term. I haven't backlinked to it very much either. It may be a coincidence but I'm sold.

It doesn't matter if it is .org .com .info .net and so on. All of these domains are the same when it comes to Google.

For pure SEO it doesn't matter, although Google does track site CTRs, so a .info domain might have a low CTR than a .com, which could lead to lower rankings. You also run the risk of making it harder to obtain direct traffic, since people will usually type sitename.com instead of .org/.net/.info.

I have found exact match domains (EMD) with .com, .net and .org to rank well with pure on-page SEO. I came across research that showed .info to be a negative ranking factor compared to the others, but on the other hand, more recently I've heard quite a few people say they have .info domains at the top of the SERPs. I've avoided them myself. I think it's more important to have EMD, ideally. If you can't manage that, then just get your keyword in the domain/url. A less than ideal domain won't necessarily keep your site from ranking, it just means you do a bit more of the other SEO activities to make up for it. |
