So I've been working on a few long tails over the past few days. Just manual links, mostly posts on blogs and forums, nothing spammy, nofollow and dofollow {I don't actually check, I just know it's a mix}. I know search engines index things pretty quickly these days and I checked to see that the keywords in question are very minor, and very low competition. About how long should it take me to see some results?

Hard to say, can take anywhere from hours to weeks, depending on the amount and power of the links, your onpage seo and choice of keyword.

We cannot say exactly when will your backlinks show. But I think it will take a few days or a week.

It is always different. If you not ping your backlinks and dont use tools to do that some backlinks can be left with no benefit for a long time. Search for backlinkbooster in this forum, super tool to boost your backlinks.

Thanks guys! They are relatively weak links, nothing bought or anything {I don't do that}. However they are all on pages that are already indexed {that's how I found them--from google!} I looked up backlink booster, apparently you have to pay to use it. No thank you--I am totally broke. |

So you can use free tools like pingler or pingomatic.

Sure I can go do that. I've never pinged anything though, I generally just wait for google to index them, and these links are on already indexed pages.

Actually you can index the link using linkcious,It gives best results. And another you can use is bulkping.com. Google takes some extra time these days because of algorithmic changes to index our links. |

It depends on a large amount of factors, but if you're working on long tails with relatively small competition, the results might be visible quite soon, even in a day or two, especially if you're starting from down low

Definitely varies. Forum profiles, for example, can take a long time unless you give them a little boost. (Either using a service, or just pinging them.) Blog comments as well. Just depends on how often Google visits the site / page. As far as moving up and down in the rankings, Andre is right. If you don't have much competition - and your page is properly optimized (important!) - you can jump up pretty quick with a small amount of backlinks. |
