We assume so. If you buy a domain for a longer period of time I am sure google will see that your more legitimate and give you a boost. How much, I dont know

There are literally hundreds of things that Google considers when ranking a page and I believe Google puts more emphasis on websites with a longer domain expiration date. Have I tested this? no, but it is common sense. Do I think it's a major contributing factor? Not at all. |

there are a lot of SEO rumors passed around over time and this is one of them that does not matter. According to Matt Cutts on a related topic about domain age ( another rumor passed around it is a total waste of time ) who is information has 0-Zero influence when it comes to how Google will rank your site. A lot of SEO comes down to basic logic. But many people get confused as they start looking for advantages or ways to get ahead or shortcuts to the top. The easiest way to distinguish rumors passed around by Seo consultants so they can sound like they know what they are talking about ( and are worth talking to ) is to a look at what makes sense for the website surfer. Always take yourself for an example, when you get to a website that you like and you bookmark: you care how old the website is? do you even take a look at the who is information? do you care how many years the domain has been registered for or preregister for? do you care what its IP or C class is? do you care where it is hosted? These are just a few examples of some of the rumors passed around over time that make absolutely no sense to viewers and typically have no influence in Googles ranking algorithm. |
