okay here's how that works. The reason for what used to be called Google dance( stupid terminology )...and is now called ever flux is to give sites a chance to score at a higher position. Google has hundreds of data centers and many years ago by accident we noticed that our sites would be at an elevated level on some data centers and at a lower level on the remaining servers. what we concluded was that Google boosts websites up to see how well they score with the public( how much time users spend on it , how many times they come back , overall site usage ). Google records those metrics. if your site does better than sites previously at that position your site will advance. But if your site does not do better it will go down to its appropriate position.

The whole thing is quite literally a race. When you got your inbound links: you got your shot at a higher position. Unfortunately it sounds like you did not outperform other sites near those rankings.

Many years ago Google only did this every 28 days. Then they started doing it every 14 days. And now they do it on a constant basis. chances are for different keyword terms you are at elevated levels right now and don't know it. You can find out by compiling a list of all the Google data centers and making calls to them based on the DC IP. From there if you can get visibility on all the data centers you will see what I'm talking about. You will see that some data centers may have you at position number eight on page 1 whereas the rest of the data centers have you at position 21.

When Google does this it's like doing a test run to see if your site deserves to advance in the race.

Yes, you are 'dancing'. Are you indexing the links yourself or letting them index naturally?

Hi

I guess the first thing would be not to build 50k links in a day

even if you have built them all at once, dont forcefully index them

Let them get indexed naturally

Google dance does happen and you might be caught in it

Was your keyword too trendy and has got a sudden increase in the number of times it is being searched

Your case might fall into QDF category...Query Deserves Freshness

You will find a lot of information about QDF on this forum

thanks
