One recommendation, create more sites/blogs with different niche to increase your traffics stream. Also, promoting your sites in Social Media site like facebook or twitter is zero cost way to attract traffics.

Lastly, you may want to check out the following site with list of PPC (Pay-Per-Click) vendors that you might want to consider adding into your site:

It seems you title got high keyword density as you repeat penpals 2 times.... My advice use some keyword density tool to check your tittle....

I’ve taken a look at your site; it's clean and relevant in any case. Traffic is the ultimate key in my mind to AdSense success, you need a lot of traffic so work on that and I'd also recommend trying to get a blog integrated into your site, good luck.

Making money from Adsense is not easy. When I first started, my average was just about 4 cents per day. And this pathetic earnings continued for a couple of months. I nearly wanted to give up.

Now I am slightly better in performance/earnings. I am earning close to $60 for this month. But earnings can be erratic even on a daily basis. Having the same amount or more traffic does not necessarily mean that the earnings would be consistent or higher. What is important is that the visitors to your site have a strong desire in taking action to click the adsense ads - to find out more on the content that they are interested in. So I think the relevancy factor is very important.

My advice is not to be discouraged, just keep working on your site daily and eventually you will see better results.

There are 2 reasons for your low earnings:

1. The adsense ads related to your niche are not very high-paying.

2. You only have one ad placed on your site.

My recommendation would be: Instead of using adsense to monetize, use affiliate programs; become an affiliate and promote language-learning software or something like that.
