Default Search engine ranking or traffic using Wikipedia

Hi,

I have 2 products listed on Wikipedia and a new article is posted on it: News Publisher - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Do you think wikipedia can help in serach engine rankings or bringing customers to website. I can't say about it because I can't track sales from referring urls because of my business model. So google analytics does not work here.

My question here is that if the traffic coming from Wikipedia consists more of potential buyers or just lame users/readers with empty pockets? because quality of traffic is different for each source.

That will depend on the keyword. If the keyword is a tire kicker then info hunters coming off a tire kicker keyword would be a relatively non responsive form of traffic.

If the keyword was extremely buyer oriented then that traffic could be quite good because they would feel as if Wiki itself had given a product recommendation. This would certainly help with buyer confidence.

Good Adivce EnFusia, It is difficult to give you a straight answer without knowing the products or the keywords to the products you are selling. However you can answer your own question, by searching and doing a little research about the demographics that your products contain.

I use wiki for backlinks on my sites, never really tried direct traffic. I could be wrong, but I don't see wiki traffic as buyers, more as reference seekers.
