seo -2 descriptions and keywords tags ?

Hi,I have a wordpress site where I started with one seo plugin and ended up installing another because I like the different features of both.(yoast and seo ultimate)

Now I have 2 descriptions and keywords tags on all pages.
(my site is cctv installers)

Can this have a detrimental effect on seo ?
or will a search engine only read the first set ?

(I don't really want to uninstall either because they have slug optimisation features etc that may mess up the site navigation if I do !)

don't uninstall. keep both. deactivate one and use one. that's my advise.

I would recommend getting it sorted out to one description. However, recent results from Google are pointing towards Google possibly ignoring the description tag. There's not enough solid evidence right now to say for sure but it would be a logical step and here's why:

Suppose you have a site that sells crossbows guns and arrows. if you do not include "arrows" in your description that will leave you at a disadvantage for someone searching for "arrows". but we have all seen Google extrapolate descriptions for site when the page either has no description or the description is insufficient.

If Google extracts a segment of your page concerning arrows and then displays that to the user( bypassing the meta-description) that will still be a good result for that user. So soon we may be able to let go of the description meta just like the keywords meta. actually I'm surprised Google has not done this before now.

But as I mentioned as of right now there is not enough evidence to support this so I would suggest that you continue with traditional methods and get that description sorted out.

I prefer 'all in one seo' by michael torbert myself. You've got the 'cctv' keyword an awful lot on there. Could be viewed as keyword stuffing in the eyes of the big G.
