|  Further proof that Google Analytics blows...
OK it doesn't "blow"... but I just discovered something very interesting about Google's stat tracking. I have a site that I'm making on average about $3 a day with Adsense... the site is a couple months old and I'm doing some link building to creep up to the top for the keywords, but I'm on page 1 of "Big G" as well as Yahoo and Bing for the main keyword. I have the Google Analytics plugin on my WP dashboard, so I'm seeing the same stats from both the Google Analytics site and the plugin, which says that I have not gotten any visits in the last 7 days...  In that same time (May 2 - May 9)... the same GOOGLE tells me that I have had over 40 impressions each day... what gives?  I've made $27 from Adsense in the last 7 days with no traffic? Really Google? I screwed up and didn't activate AwStats to see what my logs say, soI don't have any accurate data as of now, but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up that you can't rely on Google Analytics as your main source for tracking your traffic. Your tracking code is not properly installed or you're looking at a wrong account.

I don't really like analytics anyways. Call me paranoid but i won't trust all my data to google.

First off, I just want to say the your opening statement was really funny because of this thread's title. Your findings about Google is really interesting IF they do happen and I doubt if it does. I think you just made a mistake here like what others said. You may have installed it wrong or looking at a wrong account.

I had installed the code in the theme's dashboard, but Google Analytics has the "green check mark" that says "Receiving data". I just copied the tracking code into the <HEAD> section of the header.php file to see if I could get better accuracy. Quote:
What's funny is that it was recording visits up until the end of April, and even those numbers seem kinda low. So maybe the tracking code change may give me better numbers. | |
