Default Is this what Google calls "quality content"

Just been fooling around with a new SEO tool I bought and have been looking for keywords for possible domain names in several different niches. I have never ventured into the weight loss niche before so I did a little experimenting with different keywords and was curious to see some of the sites on the first page of Google and Yahoo for some of the results, as well as the content on some of the sites.
This particular site the content posted below came from was highly ranked on the first page of both Google and Yahoo for a keyword I am interested in. Below is an excerpt of the high quality content found on this site.

"The best weight loss program. Weight loss program is the best thing that works for you. He said that in order to lose weight must reduce your daily calorie intake and increase the amount of caloric need. In addition, depending on the body can benefit from reducing carbohydrates. Criteria are described here, but what to do:
1. Calculate the daily calorie intake.

2. Reduction in daily calorie intake 300 calories in the first four days of food, and then cut 200 calories, which required a total of 500 calories out, the lower end of the first week of the system plan.

3. Start walking. In general, you should walk at least 30 minutes a day three times a week but not about 4% below their target weight loss go five times a week.

4. Carbohydrates. What is your body type, I believe that carbohydrates control of the site to lose weight. This does not mean you have to do Atkins, but if you eat 500 grams of carbohydrates per day to lose weight faster, consumes around 150 / 200 g carbohydrate.

Do not overdo the exercise. Can help you lose weight faster and can slow down your metabolism. Go two days of rest after training.

Last but not least, ask your doctor before you start your diet and exercise program."

If this can rank on the first page of Google and Yahoo do those of us who choose to actually write intelligent, readable content have that much to worry about? And all this time I thought the weight loss niche was a tough nut to crack.

It's not about the content, it's about the backlinks and a whole host of other factors. Unfortunate but true. You can surpass this site but you're going to have to some diligent research on why it has a hold on that coveted number 1 spot.

And if you ever find the secret to weight loss, I will be first in line haha

**WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT SPECIAL WEEK* Yes, any topic, even saucy adult stuff! 100% unique and fully researched! You get 2 500-word articles per day, 5 days a week for ONE MONTH for $300! Only 1 left!!

Generally, just provide unique contents that are beneficial to your customers and build backlinks to it. This is what google is looking for as they want their customers to have the best experience when using their search engine.

The site with that content is using an exact match domain, has over 300 backlinks to the page and has over 79 pages of related content on the site.

This is the main problem search engines do loves quality content but they have different meaning of quality and unique content. They are not humans which can judge the quality of content on the basis of idea. Search Engines judge the quality of content on the basis of spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes and the copy content. That is why re writing of content still works you only need to good with words and stealing the idea.

If the intention of this article is to actually convert its readers, it's going to fail miserably. This is probably one of the primary reasons why people complain and whine about not being able to make any money despite ranking their articles on the first page of the search engines.

The majority of people are going to take one look at that appalling article, and then click away from it. This marketer's efforts at ranking the article are going to be mostly wasted, and yet he'll fail to realize the root cause of its failure - despite it staring at him straight in the face (the terribly written article).

Yes, what Celente said. If the content is crap then it's not to convert your visitors even if it is sitting in the number one slot. No one, especially not me wants to read atrocious spun content that makes no sense. I'd be clicking that red x button quicker than you can fart.

Indeed. Exactly.

Indeed ... exactly!

And this, in turn, is why it's comparatively easy to make a really good living in article marketing: because most people who "try to do article marketing" (whether they think about it consciously or not) imagine that having their site at the top of Google matters more than attracting targeted customers and gradually (or sometimes quickly) converting them through quality content.

Exactly so.

And, ironically, newbie article marketers can learn a far more valuable lesson by reading your post in this thread than they can in any number of those ever-popular, never-ending threads discussing "which free spinning/submitting software to use".

And, almost as ironically, they generally don't even begin to appreciate how very much easier it is to occupy the top position in Google for keywords much more competitive than the above by using syndication-quality content in the first place, rather than by relying on their own backlinking efforts.

Not if it is an Adsense site.

Quote:

All of those Adsense links are just sitting there waiting for that.

Which is exactly why Google is in the mess that it's in.

If their original plan for their business was to create relevant "quality" search results, then the whole Adwords and Adsense program became their own worst enemy.

Kind of reminds me of a certain Mary Shelley story.

There are no secrets to losing weight.

Forget diet pills, ebooks, diets and God knows what else there is out there.

All you have to do to lose weight can be summed up in one short paragraph:

Burn off more calories than you take in by through short intensive exercise. Eat 4 or 5 small meals each day instead of 3 large ones. Doing this will speed up your metabolism which will cause you to lose weight.

But of course there will always be lots of money to be made by making things sound more involved than they actually are.

This is the BIG problem!

The more "commercial intent" a content has, the less it might rank on Google.

For Google, it is very bad if someone (God beware!) wants to make money with a web site.

How do i know? Because i saw how simply adding banners or affiliate links can push a page down in rankings significantly.

I had one page ranking very high on Google for a keyword...so i thought to add one single banner to the page...big mistake.....

If this was all you had to do to lose weight, there would be a lot fewer fat people in the world:

It's more complicated than that. People who have started to develop insulin resistance require a low-carb diet to lose weight. Exercise and calorie restriction alone won't do it. Their bodies can't burn their fat because the excess insulin in their systems keeps the fat locked in the fat cells. The only way to get the fat out so it can be burned is to severely restrict carbohydrate intake so that the body stops releasing so much insulin.

The main reason people have so much trouble losing and keeping off weight is that they restrict fat and/or calories instead of carbs because so many of the so-called "experts" have been preaching it for so long. Just because it's "common knowledge" doesn't mean it is correct.

At least Matt Maiden gets it.

Article writers hate the idea but bad articles work like a charm on adsense sites. The site where that article came from is textbook MFA.

Quality is the last thing you want. Having a well written article can actually hurt your adsense conversions. You don't want people reading, you don't want to provide answers or solutions, you want people to click on the adsense ads. Once that is done, it's mission accomplished.

I wonder if those backlinks are from a service? Most of them are not even relevant to the topic of weight loss. Anyone notice that?

Seems to me from that little fact alone, big G still gives weight to "non" relevant content. Keep that in your swipe file. Or was the "non" relevant backlink topic never really a concern to begin with? Hmm?

That article won't stay on the top of the rankings forever. With content like that, it's bound to fall off the face of the Earth eventually. I remember when I was first starting out, many of my sites were outranked by silly spam sites. That's not the case anymore. If you enter with good, quality content, then you'll eventually rank ahead of them.

And yes, backlinks matter.

This is for sure.

It's probably a typically misguided attempt at "article directory marketing" by someone trying the "hit and run" model instead of the "build a business" model. These things come and go (and go and go) all the time.

Actually it's not more complicated than what I said.

The more you eat the faster you'll lose weight.

It's all about increasing your metabolic rate. Lots of people make the mistake of eating less thinking that they'll lose weight but that only slows down your metabolism which causes you to gain weight.

So 4-6 small meals a day is what you should be looking at if you really want to lose weight fast.

Olympic swimmers and top athletes can take in 5000 calories a day and stay lean as they burn them off through intensive esercise. If the average person has 5000 calories a day they will get fat.

So exercise (intensive) combined with eating more in small amounts = fast weight loss.

Do you understand now?

I must beg to defer that Google is really strong on quality content when you compare other search engines results to google.....I think the reason why sometimes you stumble on wrong content is because of some other factors.....

Back in September warrior ~kev~ was talking about his bounce rates for the different search engines. Google had the highest bounce rate. To me this means that Google is not doing a good job serving up the proper search results.

And on the above note I find myself using Bing more and more. In my opinion Google's search results are nowhere as good today as they were 18 to 24 months ago.
