Value of inbound links ??

I just wonder whether the inbound links bring value. I saw may websites linking to their own website inside their pages using their main keyword. I am sure that backlinks play a major role in ranking and serp. However, how long the inbound links play a role?

Inbound links are significant because they are seen as a kind of credit given to you from other webmasters. Search engines give you more state for quality backlinks, especially if they are from other sites inside your niche. The more quality a site has, the higher it will rank “this is particularly true in contending niches”.
