You can, but probably it won't rank in google.com as well as it will rank in google.co.uk

:)

Forget .co.uk i have used them before and they are so hard to rank in .com

Google classes top level domains as .com and .org,

So go with the .org it's fine.

But don't take it from me, google actually tells you this in webmaster tools.

good luck with your venture.

You can just add another word or something behind the domain name
Anyway, since all the EMD's are taken, be sure to check out what those domains host. They could be their competitors

sorry i read your post to quickly as you state .co.uk is taken.

see how many searches are from the united kingdom.
If the aren't many i would try to find a different keyword personally.

You can of course rank .co.uk at the top of google.com it's just harder

Hey, all dot extensions are gaining popularity. There is not much reason to choose one over the other.

Stop being so picky & worring about an EMD.

If you really have to have an EMD, just add an extra word at the end of the domain name.

It's not as complicated as your suggesting...

I find this to be the simplest solution. You can also tack a word on the front.

EXAMPLES:

If myy keyword= red striped widgets

Some domain name options=

redstripedwidgets.com

redstripedwidgetsblog.com

myredstripedwidgetsblog.com

Yeah. Right. Google could care less what TLD you use. Unless it is
country specific. If you are in the uk, of course go with a .co.uk
if you can get one. And then get a server there as well.

Too many people waste so much time doing stuff that just does
not matter...if only they would worry about the real stuff.

I would also recommend that if you are looking for exact matching domains that you should consider using hyphens in your .com domain. I have even seen people make this work with .nets/.orgs
