Default Spammer backlinking from a website to my website - what should I do?

Today - I did a "link:[domain name] on Yahoo and to my shock I saw the first 50 backlinks from a site called pickthebrain dot com. I never been there before but when I clicked on one of the links from pickthebrain website - it redirected me to a website named drugshopworld dot com. Red flags went up needless to say.

I checked the whois database from GoDaddy - game me the owner (probably fake) of drugshopworld and then I googled it. I found a web security site saying that this site was a scam website.

Well, that's not the end of the story - I started looking more on Google to see if my website was hacked...it seemed like it wasn't other than the fact on my domain name, it has something that looks like a hop link - for an example - http://bla dot com/?hop=vs7774 - not sure what that is.

Anyway - after this - I went back to my backlink list off of yahoo explorer - and when I clicked on the backlinks from "pickthebrain" website - this time, it took me right to the site. No evidence that any link to my site was there.

So what do you guys think? Has this happened to you?

Do not worry about it. You have no control over what people link to you. Google just look at them as extremely low quality links so they will disregard those.

never mind. i have so many backlinks that i didn't do that point to my website. most of them are spammy and others are genuine. but i have no control of how people link to my website. so i just watch them and do my own thing. nothing at all to worry about as far as i know.

This can not hurt you, only contribute. If a site decides to link to your website than you can only profit from it.

Yeah some folks can get too greedy LOL! I had a page-long full of links from some guy commenting/spamming one post. I was like wow dude... really?

All you can do is delete the entry, and keep your blog safe by not auto-approving comments.

Ya man, don't lose much sleep over it. If it could affect you your competitors would blast you out of the serps.

Don't worry about it. Backlinks cannot harm your site, even if they are present on bad sites. You can only be penalized by Google when your site has an outbound link to a website that is considered a "bad neighborhood".

50 links won't affct on your webs too much!

If you wish to succeed , you should use persistence as your good friend , experience as your reference , prudence as your brother and hope as your sentry. I do like this saying! Good luck! Bless! Enjoy life!
