Allright so I have a general question on micro-niches and their respective domain names. I understand that trying to get the exact keyword your trying to rank for as your domain name is best for ranking purposes but lets face it, alot of the time most of the top keyword domain names are already taken. So, would you either try to get your exact match domain name with a lesser ranking keyword or, would you rather try and develop a brand name as your domain name? That was the first question, my second question is.. Say your in the 'babies' niche and you want to create several micro-niche sites, one targeting baby strollers, one targeting baby cribs, etc. and you wanted to go with the brand name domain instead of a keyword domain. Would you still get seperate domains for each such as, strollerheaven.com, babycribcrabby.com (just examples), etc. orrrr, would you go with a certain brand name domain that you can use for all your future sites (or is this not even possible?) Such as, would you purchase the domain, babytastic.com and then create all your mini-niche sites as subdomain sites, such as purchasebabycribsonline.babytastic.com buybabystrollersformybaby.babytastic.com?? I'm not sure if this is a silly question - my lines are just blurry right now as to what is and isn't correct and I don't wish to purchase any domains until I'm clear on this matter so thank you so so soooo much for any help in clearing my understanding! |

1. If you are creating a micro-niche site, then go with a domain name that matches the keyword you are targeting. If the usual domains (eg: .com, .net, .org, .info etc) are taken, then just add a prefix or suffix to the domain. For example, if your keyword was "best baby toys", you could try thebestbabytoys.com bestbabytoyssite.com etc 2. If you are going to be targeting a whole series of related keywords/products, then you are best to create an authority site. Stay away from using brand names in the domain to avoid any legal issues. If you were targeting baby strollers, then you need to find a relatively generic domain name (assuming babystrollers.com is taken). For example: babystrollersreview.com Then you create seperate review pages for each product or category, eg: babystrollersreview.com/babytastic babystrollersreview.com/mini-baby-strollers |

Really depends on how you want to approach this. Like you can make a whole web site with pages with your niche or you can create separate sites for them

For Micro niche sites ALWAYS get keyword rich domains For Authority sites ALWAYS make it brandable (just look at the top 100 sites on the web and tell me if any of their domain names give you a clue to what the site is about???) If you cant get exact match toss a new word on the end that makes sense. I have even seen a lot of sites ranking well just putting a random number or letter after the exact match. Having an exact match domain makes it SO easy to rank though |

Ok, so this brings me to another question if I may;- Say I were to enter this micro-niche: Kitchen > Kitchen Utensils > Wooden Kitchen Utensils Then, say that I would like build a seperate site around each different kind of wooden kitchen utensil. Should I purchase a seperate domain for each possible keyword that I am trying to rank for, such as: buywoodenkitchenutensil.com purchasewoodenkitchenuntesil.com purchasewoodenkitchenuntesils.com decoratedwoodenkitchenutensil.com handmadewoodenkitchenutensil.com and focus each site in question strictly to the promotion of that keyword phrase. Or, should I instead choose a single domain name for my keyword phrase "Wooden Kitchen Utensil" (say the first from above - buywoodenkitchenutensil.com) and then try to rank for all other possible wooden kitchen utensil keywords by creating an addon domain for it, such as: buywoodenkitchenutensil.com/purchasewoodenkitchenutensil purchasewoodenkitchenutensils.buywoodenkitchenutensil.com buywoodenkitchenutensil.com/decoratedwoodenkitchenutensil handmadewoodenkitchenutensil.buywoodenkitchenutensil.com Which way overall would be the best and most beneficial all-around (in your opinion) in terms of ranking and seo, financially, and which you would recommend over the other? Thanks! |

I reread this after I created my reply and I suppose this rather clears up some of my confusion (sorry, haha). I still wouldn't mind getting a few other responses however.....? | |
