Default seo services discussion

Hey

I am new to IM and want to learn seo, and recently bought some seo courses but they are pretty no names mentioned.

I want to learn the basic fundamental principles that is productive, and want to buy a course in seo that will teach ie bookmarking, articles, backling etc not to advanced tho. I am not at that stage yet.

Has anyone got any suggestions:

Take your first lesson from those courses that got you nowhere. the first thing you need to accept is that learning the Internet is quite a bit different than learning traditional professions. Although you would normally be taking the right approach by trying to learn through proper education, the Internet moves at a speed too fast for printed media. This has been true for over a decade.

About 85 to 90% of what you will read online is either out of date or straight up bad information( written by people that only think they know what they are talking about ). So again you may be misled if you try to read up about things online or through any courses online. I would say the absolute majority of successful SEO professionals: are self-taught. You are obviously motivated so I do not think you will have much trouble making that leap.

I was once in your position, I know how you feel. It is so much to take in that you do not know where to start which is what led you to making your post. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it does not, not for you just starting out. Only if I could download all of my experiences directly into your brain could you understand.

it is a long story that I will try to make short. For us the picture became clear about nine months into it. after numerous Seo consultants most of which were absolute trash... A few diamonds in the rough ( they were so rare I even remember their names ). it is no doubt much more difficult now with everyone who learns the slightest thing about SEO then coming to the conclusion that they can be an SEO consultant and be paid for it. This type of person is what leads to the massive amounts of disinformation.

If you hear anyone talking about:

- Aged domains
- search engine friendly coding
- Needing DMOZ or Directory Links
- SEO hosting
- .edu or .gov extensions
- exaggerating the effect of so-called "authority domains"
- obsessing over PR ( Google page rank )
... OMG the list is so long I cannot completely in this post.

All of the above are historic examples of SEO disinformation. Like breadcrumbs from a table the self proclaimed Seo consultants have fed these rumors to unsuspecting clients in order to gain their trust because for the client its all new, seems to make sense, and is very exciting. But after a month or so the client realizes they are getting ripped off. Just as you will realize that the majority of what you read online: is trash.

To be quite honest this forum has a minimal amount of assertive trash. Many people here do circulate old rumors like the ones I mentioned, but are receptive when myself or any other presents a more solid theory. ( at other forums it usually turns into an argument ).

What I am getting at - to answer your question. Is that you will be most successful by being a self learner.

There is two things for you to learn:
1. On-Site optimization
2. Off-site optimization

Onsite: A basic list for you to start out with
- Keyword Resarch ( always essential )
- Site wide Theme Planning
- Site architecture planning
- site internal link structure/anchor texts
- site wide page-title optimization
- per page keyword optimization( but do not obsess over it with keyword densities and all the micro factors)

After your on-site stuff is done you need to look to off-site.
- Inbound links
- relevance of inbound links according to your target keywords
- relevance of domains that are linking to you

There are many other factors but I think that is a good roadmap for you to start with

Yes agreed, but I would not recommend paying what is now 300/Month. So far I have yet to talk to anyone that has said it is worth it so be careful. But I have not asked around here all that much because so far I have not seen a need to go beyond this forum

Great info below.

The moral is, teach yourself SEO and take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Test it before you believe it!!

I taught myself how to do SEO through my own painfull experimentation.

Basically, what people say works, may or may not work for them, but it doesn't mean ti will work for you either.

I agree that there is a lot of missinformation on this forum sometimes but your list of missconceptions are actually things that I have proven do work (through my own experimenting).

I guess people go about them the wrong way, or abuse them.

Cheers,
Dave

Just don't pay too much money for some seo lessons yet akhtar. If you'll ask me, the free lessons you can get from the internet, like our advise, is more than enough already to help you on your journey to earn money.

I think, the first thing you have to do is to build your concept around IM before stepping in SEO. I remember when I first came to IM, grasping the meaning of basic IM terms like "niche" or "keywords" was difficult for me. Eventually I fully understood those but cost me 3/4 months browsing and interacting in here. However.

Here is a link of some video's. These are the easiest IM concept building video series in my opinion. Just skip what you do not need, like demonstration of their tool.

Thanks for that, I needed that information to be honest with you. I will certainly take the step and learn my self. but can't really believe that people in this forum are so helpful. IM can take alot out of you. And can gets overloaded with information, but I think I am quite settled with basics whoo ie jargon and programs NOT forgetting the hype you get, that is complete madness. Making little online so far but let see what the future brings. Once again thank you as well as other people for the post.
