What I am about to share is one of the most common and deadly mistakes most of marketers make when they drive traffic to their website.

The 2 most common and biggest mistakes are :

Most marketers lose their time, money and energy driving un-targeted traffic and Driving traffic into poor converting landing page .

So, you do not want to be another victim.

You should always focus on the most targeted traffic sources and drive your traffic into highly optimized landing page .

You got that right, I'm in the second group, doing good in promotion yet dead poor in internet marketing

Most Marketers are targetting same keywords . And they are being each others competitor for nothing . They need to have more smart keyword ideas .

Number 2 .. continuing to tap on the wrong traffic sources, as a result of no proper tracking and testing of traffic sources

Yes , failing to test and track is one of the other problems .

You and I have something in common... I can send 1000 real traffic to my site on the first day of promotion but can't convince people to buy anything...I don't really know what is wrong.. LOL

Not doing enough research into their target audience was one of my biggest problems. I gather a lot of demographic info when I begin or tweak a campaign. Quantcast.com is a descent research tool for 'demo' and it's free.

But as bgmacaw mentioned,

Not building links and having a "if I build it they will come" attitude

affects a huge percentage of Marketers.

Don't worry, you are not alone. I had the same problem before and I realized that I should change my strategy.

Consider this facts - if we want to learn some SEO, we read SEO posts. If we want to learn about Adsense, we read articles about it. Therefore, if we want to learn about marketing then we must read the BEST marketing materials.

The difference of a good marketer from the rest is how they talk.

If you are missing any of them , I strongly recommend you that you revise your marketing approach so as to get the most .

Because , affiliate marketing success depends on integration of multiple components .

I think the answer to this question is keyword research. I have got tools and the training but my mind does not click with the niche or micro niche I should be focusing on.

Result I use very competitive keywords to drive traffic and it does not bring me anything. Long tail is the answer but in some markets it is very difficult to find long tail or maybe I dont know what I am doing.

I have got a few websites and I have no clue how to bring traffic.

I think the most common and deadly mistake is the fact that it is overwhelming for most people.

Most small companies online are "one-man" (or woman) shows and they soon find out that there is an overwhelming array of information that they have to learn for themselves which leads to paralysis. Especially for those who are new at traffic generation online.

I think it's because most people don't have a down-packed game plan to follow, or they follow the wrong rules.

I think one of the most important aspects of traffic generation is to find locations where the hungry crowd lurk. You then need to tap into the market and gather as much information as you possibly can and use this to your advantage. Most importantly YOU NEED TO TEST! Test you traffic sources and test the products or services you are promoting. There is no point sending great traffic to dead ends where there are no conversions. After all its all a case of supply and demand.

You need a solid plan and strategy

You need to work smart, not hard....but elbow grease and commitment is required.

To add to this, I think the biggest mistake people make is trying to employ too many traffic generation methods at once, instead of focusing on a select few and doing them really, really well.

There is a lot of information out there on how to drive traffic. So, it's not a lack of information. It's more a problem of information overload, and people not really knowing which path to follow to get the fastest and most effective results.

I think a deadly mistake is...

spending a few months building anchor links with wrong keywords to the home page.
