As long as the keywords are in there as the root domain or in a folder as part of the url, Google is going to see that and know what the page is about. Remember, each page can rank. Do some on page SEO, and your off page SEO and you are good to go. |

It really depends on the strategy and keywords you want to target. For example your shorter keyword may have much higher traffic but are they really the visitors that are your best target audience? Beyond this, how high is the competition for each. I could be better to go for a long tail given that they are naturally less competitive. The nature of search is becoming more specific and queries are getting longer, so the longtail is probably the better option. When it comes to SEO, the domain name is only a small part of the equation so I wouldn't stress over it too much.
